Sterling Scholar, more Kirstyn news...

We have some very exciting news. Kirstyn was picked to represent Highland High School as a Deseret Morning News KSL Television Dance Sterling Scholar for 2008. She will move forward in the competition at the State level. We will attend an information meeting next week and will know more after that. She was also the female winner for best personality as voted by her senior class mates. WAY TO GO KIRSTYN!

2007 Highland High, Winter Prom

Last night Kirstyn went to her girls choice, Senior Winter Prom dance. She looked stunning in her white dress with red earrings, red purse, red jacket and red shoes. Her date was a nice young man that she has known since the second grade. He is a triplet with a sister and brother. Kirstyn was named 1st attendant to the Prom queen which was great because she got a dozen pink roses along with the dozen red roses that her date gave her. She also did not have to pay for pictures or to get into the dance which saved her about $60.00. For those of you with young children dances can become very expensive so start saving up now. It is hard for me to believe that after this year she will be off to collage. The older I get the faster time seems to zoom by.

Thanksgiving Las Vegas Style

championship 017championship 033  championship 036 championship 004 championship 015

Our family had another fun filled Thanksgiving with Niel’s football team taking home the trophy for the fourth time. They looked tough as they went head to head against teams from Colorado and Riverton, Utah. They had to play up, playing against teams that were a year older due to the total weight of the players on his team.
We ate Thanksgiving dinner at the Mandalay Bay (an all you can eat buffet) with two other families on his team and had a great time.

Sam turns 20 years old

Sam turns 20 years old!

Niel's football team (red) played Kearns (green) last Saturday. Kearns had 5 players age 12-13 that weighed over 250 lbs. Our largest boy weights 210 lbs.

Here's Niel catching a pass in the end zone for a 2-pt conversion. At this point, the score was 26 to 21 for East! No one had scored on Kearns all year!

However, the final score was 28 to 26 for Kearns. This was our first loss of the season and only the 4th game we have lost in 4 years. It was one of the most exciting and well-played little league games we've seen. This Saturday is the start of the playoffs. I'm sure that we will play Kearns again.

After every game we have a lot yummy food.

Here are some of the great moms who help prepare and serve the food.

Niel turns 13

Niel turned 13 years old on September 9th. He had a fun weekend filled with football, friend's and family.
Here are some of the highlights.

West midgets had some very large linemen (Niel is #38).
Niel getting ready to blow out the candles on his Belgian Waffle.

No, Niel is not 38 yr's old; that is the number on his football jersey.

Kirstyn has such good table manners.

Too much food!

Niel with his buddies at the East-Highland football game. East won in a 24-21 thriller, it's first victory over Highland in 4 or 5 yrs. Sam & Kirstyn weren't too happy, though!

Niel going in as middle linebacker.

We have a very large offensive line.

Someone from the other team had to go to the hospital after being tackled by Niel.

It is sooooo much fun being a teenager! But it can be embarassing, too!

Park City with Mom and Dad

What a Hot Dogger!

Mom and Dad had a fun time at the Olympic Park Village at Solider Hollow watching the athletics practice their aerials.

Football has started!

It's hard to believe that football season is here. Niels' team the East Midget's had their first scrimmage on Saturday against the Bingham Midget's. Check out # 85 in blue, SHE is a lineman for Bingham. Niel is # 18 in red and plays middle linebacker and wide reciever.
